The TowerRAID TR5M-B is a 5-bay storage enclosure for high capacity storage needs. With built-in ventilating protective screen front panel, the units utilize a cable-less backplane design to support up to five hard drives. Hard drives are installed on easy access hard drive trays for simple insertion and removal. Hard drive cooling is provided by a large 4.7” cooling fan located on the back of the unit. The TR5M-B is a compact RAID tower that uses only one cable to access five SATA drives utilizing the latest SATA II port multiplier technology. Using the bundled 2-port eSATA PCIe adapter, the user could easily access five hard drives via JBOD mode, or RAID 0, 1, 1+0 and 5 with spare. Features: - Accesses five hard drives using only one cable. - Five 3.5-inch SATA hard disk drives to a single eSATA Port Multiplier interface. - Supports JBOD, Spanning, RAID 0, 1, 1+0, 5 with spare via software utilities. - Cable-less backplane design supporting hot-swappable SATA I and SATA II. - 2-port eSATA PCIe HBA included, to connect up to two units for a maximum of 10 HDDs. - Support PC, MAC and Linux. (Please note that the host adapter card is based on Silicon Image chipset, which currently only support up to MAC OS 10.5.1 by Silicon Image.)
